Synonym

VAPB, ALS8, VAMP-B

Source

Recombinant Human VAPB /VAMP-associated protein B/C (rh VAPB) Met 1 - Pro 132 (Accession # NP_004729) was produced in E.coli cells at ACROBiosystems.

Molecular Characterization

rh VAPB is fused with a polyhistidine tag at the C-terminus, and has a calculated MW of 15.8 kDa. The predicted N-terminus is Met 1. DTT-reduced Protein migrates as 16-18 kDa in SDS-PAGE .

Endotoxin

Less than 1.0 EU per μg of the rh VAPB by the LAL method.

Purity

>95% as determined by reduced SDS-PAGE.

Formulation

Lyophilized from 0.22 μm filtered solution in PBS, pH7.4. Normally Mannitol or Trehalose are added as protectants before lyophilization.

Reconstitution

See Certificate of Analysis for reconstitution instructions and specific concentrations.

Storage

Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

No activity loss was observed after storage at:
In lyophilized state for 1 year (4oC); After reconstitution under sterile conditions for 3 months (-70oC).

SDS-PAGE

Recombinant Human VAPB /VAMP-associated protein B/C
The purity of rh VAPB was determined by DTT-reduced (+) SDS-PAGE and staining overnight with Coomassie Blue.

Background

Vesicle-associated membrane protein-associated protein B/C (VAPB) is also known as VAMP-associated protein B/C (VAMP-B/VAMP-C or VAP-B/VAP-C), which is a single-pass type IV membrane protein and belongs to the VAMP-associated protein ( VAP ) family. Involved in cellular calcium homeostasis regulation, VAPB participates in the endoplasmic reticulum unfolded protein response (UPR) by inducing ERN1/IRE1 activity as well. VAPB can interact with VAMP1 ,VAMP2, HCV NS5A, NS5B ,ZFYVE27 (via MSP domain) and RMDN3. Human VAPB is involved in hepatitis C virus replication through interaction with NS5A and NS5B.
