Secreted frizzled-related protein 4 (sFRP-4) is also known as Frizzled protein, human endometrium (FRPHE), FRP-4, which belongs to the secreted frizzled-related protein (sFRP) family. sFRP-4 contains one FZ (frizzled) domain and one NTR domain. sFRP-4 is expressed in mesenchymal cells and highly expressed in the stroma of proliferative endometrium. sFRP4 may act as a regulator of adult uterine morphology and function. sFRP4 increases apoptosis during ovulation possibly through modulation of FZ1/FZ4/WNT4 signaling. sFRP4 has phosphaturic effects by specifically inhibiting sodium-dependent phosphate uptake.
