  • Background
    S protein has two functional regions, S1 and S2. S1 is composed of four domains, including N-amino-terminal domain (NTD) and receptor-binding domain (RBD), and binds to host cell receptor ACE2. Compared with RBD antibody, the neutralization ability of NTD antibody is weak, most of which can recognize the three-dimensional conformation of viral protein. In the NTD region of mutant strains, there are a large number of amino acid deletion and insertion, as well as numerous point mutations, most of which can escape the recognition and neutralization of NTD antibody.
