Through internalization, the ADC can be transported to the lysosome where the drug is released, resulting in a highly targeted chemotherapeutic agent. Therefore, the measurement of internalization efficacy of an antibody is critical for its curative effect. Since ADCs require endocytosis and subsequent acidification to be effective, pH-sensitive reagents are useful for tracking the internalization of antibody conjugates.
