Background

Olfactomedin-like 3 (OLFML3) is a member of the olfactomedin-like gene family, containing an olfactomedin(OLF) domain in the C-terminal region and a less well conserved coiled-coil domain in the N-terminal region. Since olfactomedin was first cloned from frog olfactory tissue, more than 100 known OLF members have been discovered in vari ous species ranging from Caenorhabditis elegans to Homo sapiens. Many OLF members have been demonstrated to play important roles in various physiological processes.
