Background

NECTIN4 participates in cell-cell communication and signal transduction through adhesion-based interactions that connect cells in tissues. The soluble form is generated by proteolytic cleavage at the cell surface by ADAM17/TACE, and the secreted protein has been found in breast tumor cell lines and in breast tumor patients. It is also involved in negative regulation of natural killer cell mediated cytotoxicity and in symbiont entry into host cell.
