Source

SARS-CoV-2 Spike RBD Protein, His Tag (NB.1.8.1) (SPD-S52Hh) is expressed from human 293 cells (HEK293). It contains AA Arg 319 - Lys 537 (Accession # QHD43416.1 (I332V, G339H, K356T, S371F, S373P, S375F, T376A, R403K, D405N, R408S, K417N, A435S, N440K, V445H, G446S, N450D, L452W, L455S, F456L, N460K, S477N, T478I, N481K, E484K, F486P, Q493E, Q498R, N501Y, Y505H)).

Predicted N-terminus: Arg 319

Molecular Characterization

This protein carries a polyhistidine tag at the C-terminus.

The protein has a calculated MW of 26.7 kDa. The protein migrates as 35-41 kDa when calibrated against Star Ribbon Pre-stained Protein Marker under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation.

Endotoxin

Less than 1.0 EU per μg by the LAL method / rFC method.

Purity

>90% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

>90% as determined by SEC-MALS.

Formulation

Lyophilized from 0.22 μm filtered solution in PBS, pH7.4 with trehalose as protectant.

Background

SARS‑CoV‑2 NB.1.8.1 is an Omicron‑descendant variant under monitoring, first detected in early 2025. It carries multiple spike mutations linked to immune escape and shows a growth advantage over co‑circulating BA.2.86/JN.1 lineages2. While currently at low prevalence in many regions, it is spreading in parts of Asia and is expected to rise, though no major increase in disease severity is anticipated.
