Background

CXCL16 is a unique chemokine existing as both a transmembrane adhesion molecule and a soluble chemoattractant for CXCR6+ T cells. It acts as a scavenger receptor for oxidized LDL (atherosclerosis) and mediates lymphocyte recruitment to inflamed liver. It is a key player in NASH pathogenesis and anti-tumor T-cell retention.
