Background

Anterior gradient homolog 2 (AGR2) is also known as AG-2, XAG-2, GOB-4, HAG-2, PDIA17, XAG-2, which belongs to the AGR family. AGR-2 /AG2 is expressed strongly in trachea, lung, stomach, colon, prostate and small intestine. AGR-2 /AG2 is required for MUC2 post-transcriptional synthesis and secretion and may play a role in the production of mucus by intestinal cells By similarity. Proto-oncogene that may play a role in cell migration, cell differentiation and cell growth. AGR2 is also associated with prostate cancer, though lower levels are associated with higher Gleason grades.
