Background

Choriogonadotropin subunit beta (CGB or CG-beta) is also known as CGB3, CGB5, CGB7, CGB8, which belongs to the glycoprotein hormones subunit beta family. CGB is a secreted protein, which is heterodimer of a common alpha chain and a unique beta chain which confers biological specificity to thyrotropin, lutropin, follitropin and gonadotropin. CGB / CG-beta stimulates the ovaries to synthesize the steroids that are essential for the maintenance of pregnancy.
