Background

Peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase A (PPIase A or PPIA) is also known as Cyclophilin A (CYPA), Cyclosporin A-binding protein, Rotamase A. PPIA / Cyclophilin A belongs to the cyclophilin-type PPIase family and PPIase A subfamily. Cyclophilin A contains one PPIase cyclophilin-type domain. Cyclophilin A interacts with HIV-1 Capsid protein. Cyclophilin A binds cyclosporin A (CsA). CsA mediates some of its effects via an inhibitory action on PPIase. PPIases accelerates the folding of proteins and catalyzes the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides.
